I have worked as a salaried or locum GP since, doing occasional sessions as a clinical assistant in an accident and emergency department. I would like to pursue a career in ophthalmology and am looking for a senior house officer (SHO) post in this field. Based on my years since qualifying, I am equivalent to a year six SHO. What level of the pay scale I will slot into for basic pay? Am I entitled to SHO level six?
