spaceCareer focus back

I have just returned to work as a flexible paediatric specialist registrar (SpR) in a new trust after 12 months' maternity leave after the birth of my first child. I am now pregnant again and considering a career break after the birth because our family circumstances make it difficult to obtain appropriate child care. I am concerned about the implications for my progression to a certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST); I am year three. Would I be able to retain my national training number (NTN), and if so, for how long? What are the current arrangements for NHS returners in training grades? If I lose my NTN and decide to return as a staff grade, would this count against me if I decided to reapply for the SpR training, and would my SpR years count towards my CCST in these circumstances?

I will be completing my first year general practice vocational training scheme (GPVTS) in August 2006. Would I be able to get an interdeanery transfer from Scotland to England because my husband works in England; I live with my two children in Scotland and it is very difficult to stay without him. Could you advise me who to contact about this? I do not mind completing the hospital posts in Scotland and then doing a GP registrar post in England
